Broadway Corridor: The Great Social Divide
Present Day:
Vancouver zoning is market driven and development is fed by free-flowing unquestioned, often international money. It only provides expensive housing, particularly in ever-higher luxury towers. 'Unaffordable housing' is the standard working person’s lament. Productivity is down, hi-tech threatens employment and a general income gap is widening, progressively producing a society of ‘haves and have-nots’ with divergent political beliefs.
Rogue pharmacists have been exposed dealing in illegal drugs. It is commonplace in British Columbia, for those that can afford it, to go out of province for timely medical procedures...
Later in the century:
The future world of social conflict brings drama, action, politics, intrigue and romance. Vancouver's completed Broadway Corridor is internationally renowned for its superb rail transit and nodes of spectacular view towers, attracting the wealthy of the world. The Great Social Divide continues to alienate Canadians, locating those struggling financially elsewhere in less desirable areas. British Columbia is deeply divided politically.
Illegal private medicine is extensive in the affluent Corridor, provoking the aggressive Medical Police, and beautiful surgeon Madie is unintentionally implicated in armed resistance. Can she maintain her cover and her love for police chief Ivern?
Events overwhelm them all as the Corridor erupts in violence.
